BIOGRAPHY: John was born in Tucson Arizona in 1976 but grew up in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania He had been drawing ever since he was a young lad but it was not until he was nine that he would be introduced to his first love. Because of his exceptional learning ability John had been placed in a split 4th grade/5th grade class. It was during this year in the 4th grade that a friend showed John a copy of The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. John was fascinated by the awesome characters and half-naked women. It was at that moment that a comic book dork was born. Not only did John fall in love with reading comic books but he soon discovered that he had the talent to draw them as well .kind of. Johns intelligence would steadily decline but his love for comics would continue to this day. After graduating High School and receiving the embarrassingly prestigious Most Improved Student award, John had only one College in mind that he wanted to attend ,the School of Visual Arts in New York City. John was accepted and attended SVA from 1994 until 1996. He had furthered his art training but soon began to long for a different kind of experience. John wanted to join the Army but decided to enlist part time in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. He attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training as an Infantryman in Fort Benning, Georgia in the summer of 1996. For some reason John decided not to continue his schooling at SVA and instead worked a series of crappy jobs. By 1998 D Generation X was hugely popular and the term suck it was all the rage. John concluded it was time to go back to college. He enrolled in his hometown college East Stroudsburg University as an Environmental Studies Major. John graduated in December 2001. His commitment to the National Guard ended in January 2002 but John still was not satisfied with his military career. In 2002 John enlisted for three years in the regular Army. This included a year long tour in the Republic of Korea. When Johns enlistment ended in 2005 he had returned to the United States and spent time with his family for about a month before turning his efforts to fulfilling a dream he had had since he first set foot on a section of hiking trail in Pennsylvania. In March 2005, John went to Springer Mountain Georgia, the Southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. The AT is a 2174 mile long hiking trail spanning 14 States ending on Mount Katahdin Maine. John completed this little nature walk in about 5 months. Having graduated College, honorably completed 9 years of military service, and fulfilled his dream of thru hiking the entire Appalachian Trail, John is now free to focus his time and energy to his first true love, comic books. John now resides in Astoria, New York where he is currently creating new works of comic book art. |
